How to Style a Kitchen

When life happens in the kitchen, opportunities for beauty abound in the space’s nourishing function.

Bring in warmth

Kitchens by nature a full of hard surfaces: tile, stone, appliances.

Counteract the coldness of these surfaces with woods or, yes, more stone. Consider a marble spinning tray as a drink station, to display a collection of herbs or as an accessory to a coffee bar.

Air your linens

Napkins, dish towels and everyday clean up essentials can be used as decoratives.

Keep a woven basket of cloth items easily accessible to grab and go for snacks on the porch, a juicy peach, setting the table and that spilt milk.

Don’t forget the greens

Number one - no fake plants ever, more on this later.

Can’t keep a plant alive? There are plenty of cute options to bring the outside in that aren’t artificial.

  • Dried grass stems or palms can bring in the same warm wood tones as a cutting board.

  • Love fresh cut flowers? Great! Keep a vase full - tulips are great long-life cut flowers.

  • Herbs also do double duty: you can root and continue to grow basil, green onions, and mint for food and function.

Function should pretty

How are you using your space?

Do you walk about to the garden to pick your veggies? Have a few stacked baskets to take outside with you. Bonus: Use something like a pretty colander that you can also rinse, and then leave your goods to dry in full display.

Need serving trays for those trips to your bedroom? Items stacked or leaning against the backsplash will add depth to your space and provide that lived-in feel without the fuss.

Marry life and loveliness for a style as natural and effortless as your favorite summer dress.
