Order in the Court
It’s all about organization.
From where we drop our keys to how we corral our laundry to managing all our New England gear…
We need a home for everything.
Four seasons mean more shoes, jackets, gadgets, and accessories.
Also important for me: where to stash all the items left on my dining room table.
But we don’t have to sacrifice style for storage function with these suggestions for clutter-free spaces.
Hide small items in drawers
Don’t want to see your keys in a tray?
Buy a console or entry table with a drawer.
Bring the storage to you
Has laundry become an overflow in multiple rooms?
Place laundry baskets in central drop zones where clothes tend to accumulate, like the bathroom.
Or make baskets smaller and place in individual rooms.
With more intentional storage, laundry becomes a part of daily routine rather than a marathon weekend of folding.
Make use of all your space
For the shoe, jacket, hat enthusiasts, use all of your space - floor to ceiling.
Find and allocate off-season storage, and rotate during seasonal changes.
Gather “stuff” in pretty containers
For the unwelcome stuff that finds its way to my dining room table and kitchen counter… decorative bowls do the trick for me.
Find bowls deep enough, and you can hide kid toys, dog leashes, and other clutter in a pinch.
I gather items up and if they aren’t collected in a few weeks time, I gently remind my husband they will go permanently missing.
Ooopsy.
